3BAR Dirty Martini Olive Juice Mixers is a curious Mediterranean product because there is no consumption of Martinis in Spain, France, Italy or Greece that I am familiar with. The Spanish green olive industry located in Seville finds Martinis quite alien. Imagine how even more alien the Dirty Martini is to Spaniards. When we asked our packer in Spain to make us our Dirty Martini Olive Juice we got the most quizzical look imaginable and a bureaucratic problem regarding Spanish export inspection services not understanding a non-olive product coming out of an olive packing facility.
Where there is a will there is a way and the packer suggested including an olive in the jar filled with fermented green olive brine to meet the Spanish export inspector’s objections. We thought about it and figured what a better way to prove that is was real olive juice than to have an olive floating around in it. With this addition we are still offering olives, actually an olive in singular, ergo our Dirty Martini Olive Juice label stating Olive & Juice rather than Olive Juice. Also since the single olive weighs about an 1/8th of an ounce we make the ridiculous declaration of 1/8th ounce of net drained weight whether in an 8 or 32 fluid ounce jar containing the Juice because that is the law!
What no self respecting olive packer ever wants to admit is that some people don’t like olives! Dirty Martinis are popular throughout the United States but olives aren’t. We interviewed the owner of a very popular upscale restaurant bar in Arkansas who proudly declared that on Thursday and Friday they would serve over one hundred dirty martinis a night, many without olives. Gallon olive jars were being drained of their brine with good olives remaining behind requiring juice for preservation. We solve the not enough juice and too many olives bartender’s problem with our 3BAR quart jar olive juice. It’s our most popular product.
